Homemade Coffee Walnut Bitters
Why Bitters? For one I wanted to incorporate Puerto Rican Coffee into my products and two one of my favorite cocktails is the Old Fashioned which contains Peychud's Bitters. I wanted to make my own bitters and here came our Coffee Walnut Bitters!
What are Bitters?
Bitters are an aromatic agent made from in this case infusing coffee beans, nuts, barks, fruit peels, seeds and botanicals.
Aromatic Bitters are made with Alcohol yes, but only 30-45% . Meaning you can consume a few drops with some club soda. They were traditionally used as one of the essential ingredients in cocktails, as well as taken medicinally for headache, indigestion, stomach cramps and constipation. These are the reasons why I love bitters so much!
